An Official Mojang Cape: MINECON 2011 Cape The MINECON 2011 Cape was awarded to attendees of the inaugural MINECON event held on November 18, 2011, at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada, coinciding with the official release of Minecraft. This exclusive cape, featuring a red background with a black Creeper face, was automatically added to the registered usernames of all participants who attended the event. Additionally, it was briefly available for purchase on the Xbox 360 Marketplace as downloadable content for $1.00 starting May 1, 2012, until the marketplace closed on July 29, 2024. In Bedrock Edition, the cape was included in the MINECON 2015 and 2016 Skin Packs, available for free during limited periods (July 1–15, 2015, and September 22–October 7, 2016), but these were locked to specific skins and not freely equippable. The opportunity to obtain this cape through official means has ended, as the event and marketplace promotions are no longer active, making it a rare and iconic symbol of early Minecraft history.
